So today I have a few minutes to write before I go to bowling class.  Love that class.  I'm happy lately, which is very nice.  I had fun studying arch history last night, and that's saying something. :)

I'm making steady-ish progress on my HAED.  Not much more to look at except the big blue flower on the top.  Such bright colors, I'm loving it!

I've also been reading a book I have at home, but wanted to keep reading it here so I took it out from the library.  I'm pretty sure that in my lifetime I have NEVER taken a book out from the library and read the whole thing, then returned it before it was due.  This won't be an exception, unfortunately.  I can't get through 200 pages in 3 days, even if I like the book!  *goes online to renew*

Lost in pattern..or thought..who knows?

Last night's photos.  So either I can have a bazillion threads lying around and confusing me, or I can do one at a time and spend more time than I should simply going cross-eyed staring at the pattern to figure out where my next stitch goes.  Maybe I'll try the dual highlighter method.. highlight the places with the color I'm working on, and go over it with a different color when those are finished.  At some spots it gets really thick with threads in the back, and it's pretty hard to poke through.  Hand lotion is not an option.  Maybe this is why people like 1 over 1 instead of 2 over 1.

Side note!  Today I discovered the World of Goo.  *grin*
Additionally, I bowled some strikes! (nobody said consistently..yet)

Easter Morning

This is what I have so far as of Easter!  It was the first time I had been on the other side of an Easter egg hunt.  The kids were so cute!  Okay, I'm not saying I was all adult about the whole ordeal, however I did refrain from collecting all the eggs I saw and keeping the candy for myself!  hehe

HAED Update

Well, this is how my Friday nights go.  Attend optional physics class, eat campus dining alone with a book, retire to dorm room and put on the latest season of House.  Meanwhile, continue cross stitching on Ching-Chou Kuik's QS Dryad with a Peacock.  I guess I decided I was anxious to see how this project would turn out so I keep stitching.  Is this the early stages of HAED addiction?  I am still experimenting with techniques.. that's not going too great.  The methods that make sense in my brain conflict with what my natural tendency is.  Maybe my brain should stick to math.

So here is tonight's update:

 

A Few Days' Progress

After spending way too much time experimenting with 28 count Evenweave to no satisfactory results, I decided to give up on QS Kitty Moon Fairy for a while, and work on QS Dryad with a Peacock.  It's coming along pretty well for me so far, I think.  This is my first attempt at one of these patterns, so I don't have much comparison but for online photos other people have posted. 

With 22 count Aida and 2 strands of floss, I basically cannot see the fabric underneath the stitches, so that is a plus I suppose!  You'll notice one of the pictures here I have included for the sole purpose of humor.  I think I'm coming to learn the meaning of "confetti".  I don't know the most efficient way of tackling it yet, but more experimentation lies ahead. 

A Very Rosy Bus Ride

On the left is a photo from a few weeks ago.  It was sort of primitive of me to hang the thing from my bulletin board, but progress was being made at that point (as opposed to laziness being the other reason it was still in the hoop!)  Anyway, on my ride from Reno to Sacramento to San Fransisco to SLO to get here from Lake Tahoe, I worked on this piece for a good part of it.  I met some interesting people on the bus that day.. haha.  Anyway, all that is really left on Mr. Jasper are the golds, white, and little red beads for the rose.  Getting there!
